Our mission

Electricity opens doors.
We’re working
on the path there.

Our ambition is to help electrify Africa. Our starting point is the work that connects promising distributed renewable energy projects with financing, starting with mini-grids and C&I.

Why we’re starting here

Nigerian mini-grids.
A concrete first step.

Reliable electricity supports livelihoods, education, healthcare, and daily life. In communities where the main grid is absent or unreliable, well-designed mini-grids can play an important role.

Where extending the main grid is difficult, decentralised renewable energy—including mini-grids and solar home systems—can help close the gap. The report says these solutions supplied 55% of new electricity connections in Sub-Saharan Africa between 2020 and 2022. Nigeria’s access gap explains our starting point; each project still needs its own demand, costs, and risks evidenced.

Nigeria also has an established mini-grid development effort. The World Bank’s March 2025 overview describes how mini-grids and standalone solar have expanded access through the Nigeria Electrification Project.

Good preparation
connects the pieces.

Developers need to understand what a financier requires, gather evidence, and present a coherent case. Financiers need to assess the economics, verify information, and understand the risks. Both spend time resolving gaps between those perspectives.

Lienage brings the work together: field information, project documents, and financing requirements become a traceable case, clear actions, and a focused review.

Better preparation cannot remove every barrier. Project economics, available capital, permits, independent assessments, and financing decisions still matter. Our focus is making the work around those decisions clearer and more efficient.

Built with the people
doing the work.

Lienage was founded by Quham Adefila and Christ-Emmanuel Sawadogo, informed by conversations with developers, financiers, and energy-sector practitioners across African markets.
